The Air Rescue Team of FEMERAID International informs all our members, Knights and Dames of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of the Autonomous Priories (KMFAP) about the followings:

For some time now we have had the indication that flu-vaccinated people would be more resistant to COVID-19. 

Last week, the American Journal of Infection Control published a study on this subject:

- the results prove that people previously vaccinated against influenza are 24% less likely to become infected with COVID-19,

- in addition, those who tested positive for COVID-19, and had been vaccinated against the flu, had a 42% reduction in the need for mechanical ventilation, and thus mortality. Significant reductions in the length of hospitalization for those patients have also been reported.

Therefore, FEMERAID Air Rescue continues to recommend people to have the annual influenza vaccination in addition to the COVID-19 vaccine.
