Some European countries advise people infected with COVID-19 to only take one dose of the vaccine. Before being vaccinated, the person should do a rapid serological test to detect the presence of antibodies. If the person tests positive for antibodies, the second dose will be automatically cancelled as it is deemed not necessary. In addition, according to the latest studies, it is counterproductive even for people who are already infected, as a second dose can then prove detrimental to the long-term protective effect. This will release a huge number of vaccines and this will help speed up vaccination programmes during this summer.
Please note that a 4th wave of COVID-19 infections with new variants of concern is expected at end of summer.
