summer is around the corner and many of you will be travelling abroad. It is therefore particularly important to remain alert to active outbreaks worldwide and to stay focused on risk prevention measures. 

Burkina Faso: Ongoing measles outbreak, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Burundi: Severe illness of unknown cause in Mpanda commune (Bujumbura province), follow hygiene measures 

Chad: Increase in meningitis, vaccination recommended, follow strict hygiene measures 

Congo (DRC): Cholera outbreak, select safe food and water, consider vaccination. Meningococcal meningitis in Kongo Central province, vaccination recommended, seek medical attention if symptoms appear. Suspected Ebola in North Kivu province, maintain strict hygiene measures, avoid contact with sick people. 

Kenya: Anthrax outbreaks in Meru and Vihiga counties, avoid contact with animals, follow hygiene measures 

Mauritius: Chikungunya outbreak, avoid mosquito bites 

Mayotte (France): Chikungunya outbreak, avoid mosquito bites 

Mozambique: Cholera outbreak in Nampula and Tete provinces, select safe food and water, consider vaccination. Ongoing measles infections, check vaccination status. 

Namibia: Increase in malaria infections, avoid mosquito bites, consider preventative medication Somalia: Dengue infections increasing in Somaliland, avoid mosquito bites. Ongoing diphtheria outbreak, ensure vaccination is up to date. Ongoing measles outbreak, check vaccination status. 

South Sudan: Suspected viral haemorrhagic fever in Kapoeta East county (Eastern Equatoria state), maintain strict hygiene measures 

Sudan: Ongoing dengue activity, avoid mosquito bites 

Bolivia: Chikungunya in several departments, avoid mosquito bites. Yellow fever risk in Cordillera province (Santa Cruz department), vaccination recommended, avoid mosquito bites. Canada: Ongoing measles activity in several provinces, ensure vaccination is up to date Colombia: Increase in varicella (chickenpox), ensure vaccination is up to date, follow hygiene measures. Yellow fever in Tolima department, vaccination recommended, avoid mosquito bites. Cuba: Limited healthcare services, shortages of medicines and safe water, defer non-essential travel 

French Guiana (France): Chikungunya outbreak, avoid mosquito bites 

Haiti: Diphtheria outbreak, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Honduras: Increase in pertussis, check vaccination status. Increased risk of screwworm myiasis, protect wounds from insects. 

Martinique (France): Increase in dengue, avoid mosquito bites 

Peru: Increased risk of leptospirosis, avoid contact with contaminated water. Measles outbreak in Puno department, ensure vaccination is up to date. 

ASIA & THE PACIFIC 

Australia: Diphtheria in several states, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Cambodia: Heatwave, minimise exposure and stay well hydrated. Human bird flu infections in several provinces, avoid contact with birds, follow hygiene measures. Ongoing dengue activity, avoid mosquito bites. 

China: Bird flu infections detected, avoid contact with birds, follow hygiene measures 

Guam (US): Pertussis outbreak, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Japan: Increase in measles in several prefectures, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Maldives: Increase in dengue, avoid mosquito bites 

New Caledonia (France): Increase in dengue, avoid mosquito bites. Increase in leptospirosis infections, avoid contact with contaminated water. 

Pakistan: Increased heat, minimise exposure and stay well hydrated 

Palau: Increase in tuberculosis, avoid contact with sick people, seek medical care if exposed Taiwan (China): Human bird flu infection in central Taiwan, avoid contact with birds, follow hygiene measures 

Thailand: Increase in hepatitis A, vaccination recommended, pay attention to hygiene. Melioidosis reported in north-eastern provinces, avoid contact with contaminated water. 

Tonga: Dengue outbreak, avoid mosquito bites 

Vanuatu: Increased risk of ciguatera fish poisoning, avoid eating reef fish 

Vietnam: Increase in meningococcal meningitis, consider vaccination. Increasing hand, foot and mouth disease, pay attention to hygiene. 

EUROPE & CIS 

Bulgaria: Increase in measles, ensure vaccination is up to date 

Czech Republic: Ongoing hepatitis A transmission, vaccination recommended, pay attention to hygiene 

France: Boil water advisory remains in effect for Rousset (Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region) Italy: Increase in hepatitis A in Campania region, check vaccination status, select safe food. Increase in measles, ensure vaccination is up to date. 

Latvia: Measles outbreak, ensure vaccination is up to date 

United Kingdom: Measles outbreak in north London, ensure vaccination is up to date
